Eric Pierson Eric Pierson
graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a BFA in Fine Arts in
1983. He spent two years in the Masters program for Radio/Film and Television at UCLA.
Currently he is a fifth year Ph.D. candidate in the Institute of Communications Research
at the University of Illinois. Areas of interest include: issues related to information
haves and have nots, questions of race in the depiction of crime in both news and
entertainment formats, and analysis of popular entertainment within the framework of a
political economy. His dissertation is an analysis of the blaxploitation film movement
though the framework of political economy. He will be joining the faculty at the
University of San Diego in the fall of 1999. |
